When I add a new card to renew my subscription, the system does not accept the name on the card: "Check that the details in all fields are correct or try a different card." #new card

My apologies, please check and try this again within the day or tomorrow and if your card is up to date and you have also verified that it is working for other purchase that you made online, please check and try this on a different browser or by using inPrivate or Incognito browsing and another alternative is to link your card to PayPal and use it as payment method. Please see below for other things that you can also check with regards to this issue.

    • Enter your name precisely as it appears on the card and only include your middle initial if it appears on your card.
    • If this is a company card, enter the company name as both a first name and last name. For example, if the company name is "My Company" you may split the company name into the first and last name fields.
    • If the company only has one name, for example, "Company," enter the company name in both the first and last name fields.
    • If you are asked to enter the address and it exceeds the Address 1 field, use the Address 2 field and do not shorten or abbreviate your address.
    • The card number and type cannot be edited, so if you make a mistake, you'll need to add a new one with the correct information. Other credit card information can be edited, such as billing address and expiration date.
    • Other factors such as, card issuer fraud block, 3-D Secure/online payment restriction, family-card name mismatch, temporary authorization hold, or regional/payment-method limitations can also affect this.

If you will still encounter an issue even after trying out the alternatives, you can reach out to the support team at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and then click on Microsoft 365 and then click Get Home Support and then type in Billing question and click the blue button that says Sign in to contact Support and login and proceed from there.

For a Microsoft 365 home subscription, try these checks when entering the cardholder name and billing details:

    1. Enter the name exactly as it appears on the card.
      • Include the middle initial only if it is printed on the card.
      • If the billing name in the account profile differs from the card, update the billing information first.
    2. Verify all payment details match the card issuer’s records exactly.
      • Card number
      • Expiration date
      • Name on the card
      • Billing address, including city, state, and ZIP/postal code
    3. Add the card from the Microsoft account payment area.
      • Go to the Payment options page.
      • Select Add a new payment method.
      • If the card is not accepted, try the postal code with and without spaces.
    4. If this is for a subscription renewal, add the new payment method on the Services & subscriptions page.
    5. If PayPal is being used instead of a card, make sure the PayPal account has a credit card or confirmed bank account as its funding source.
    6. If the card still fails:
      • Check with the bank to confirm the card is active.
      • Confirm the bank is not blocking the transaction.
      • Make sure sufficient funds or credit are available.

If the error continues after the details exactly match the card and statement, contact Microsoft Support through Get Help and Contact Support.
