Microsoft Authenticator

Hi, recently I purchased iPhone 18 Pro Max and via setup I uploaded my iCloud backup which included Microsoft Authenticator.

Once everything was downloaded I went into the authenticator and started to login to my email accounts. But then noticed that my partner’s email account and a couple of her work accounts wanted me to login also.

problem is I have never setup her account in my Authenticator nor do we share iCloud accounts or backups.

The only thing I can think of is she used her email address to login into my phones Facebook app.

How does something like this occur? At least it required me to login to the accounts again to authenticate.

This is concerning because she works in finance.

Thanks,

    Hi @ASH

Restoring Microsoft Authenticator from an iCloud backup can restore account entries that still require you to sign in again, particularly for work or school accounts. However, if your partner's accounts appeared in your Authenticator app even though you never intentionally added them, could you please clarify the following:

    • Were your partner's accounts visible in the account list on the main Microsoft Authenticator screen, or did they only appear during the sign-in process for your own accounts?
    • Did you notice these account entries immediately after restoring the backup, before attempting to sign in to any accounts?
    • Is your partner still able to use Microsoft Authenticator on her own device normally for both her personal and work accounts? If so, could she check whether your old phone is listed among the registered authentication methods for her work accounts by visiting My Sign-Ins | Security Info | Microsoft.com page?

Signing in to Facebook with your partner's email address would not normally add her Microsoft Authenticator accounts to your app.
