Hello,
Welcome to the Microsoft Windows Community.
Good afternoon. I understand your concern, especially when you need to reinstall Windows and don't know where the product key is.
If Windows was already activated on that same computer, you usually do not need to enter the key again when reinstalling the same edition. When the installer asks for the key, select "I don't have a product key" and choose the corresponding edition. After installation and connecting to the Internet, activation should happen automatically via the digital license associated with the device.
If the computer has an OEM license, we can check if there is a key stored in the firmware. Open Terminal or Command Prompt as administrator and run:
wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3OriginalProductKey
If there is a key stored in the firmware, do not post the key on the forum. Just let us know if the command returned a key or if the result was blank.
We can also check the current activation status by running:
slmgr /dlv
If you need to share a screenshot, please hide any product keys, IDs, or personal information before posting it.
ShowKeyPlus can also be used to check licensing information, but it is not necessary to install a third-party tool before we check the results of the native Windows commands.

If you let us know which edition of Windows is installed, which edition you intend to install, and whether there have been any hardware changes, we can determine the best procedure to preserve your activation.
