TPM 2.0 Detected in BIOS but not in device manager

My SSD failed a couple months ago and was replaced with the same model, windows was reinstalled however not activated yet due to the cost being to steep. I cannot play some games since TPM is not detected on my device manager however, it is detected in my BIOS. I made sure to update my BIOS thinking that will talk some sense into my device but TPM 2.0 is still not detected.

When I click onto the TPM2.0 in device manager it says something about code 10. This code has always been there and I do not know how to fix this code, I have used AI to guide me but there has been no luck.

How do I make sure windows sees TPM2.0?

If TPM 2.0 is enabled in BIOS but Windows still does not recognize it, use this order of checks:

    1. Open Windows Security → Device security → Security processor details or Security processor troubleshooting.
      • This page can show TPM-specific errors such as:
        • TPM is disabled and requires attention
        • A firmware update is needed for your security processor (TPM)
        • Your TPM isn't compatible with your firmware and may not be working properly
        • There is a problem with your TPM. Try restarting your device
    2. If Windows shows a TPM firmware or compatibility error, check for and install any available BIOS/UEFI firmware or TPM firmware update from the device or motherboard manufacturer.
      • This is a supported fix when Windows cannot properly communicate with the TPM.
    3. If the TPM appears disabled or unusable, reinitialize it by disabling and re-enabling it in UEFI/BIOS:
      1. Restart and enter UEFI/BIOS.
      2. Disable TPM.
      3. Save changes and boot into Windows.
      4. Open tpm.msc. Seeing Compatible TPM cannot be found at this point is expected.
      5. Restart and enter UEFI/BIOS again.
      6. Re-enable TPM.
      7. Save changes and boot into Windows.
      8. Open tpm.msc again and check whether TPM is detected.
    4. If TPM is still not usable after that, use Security processor troubleshooting and, if prompted, consider Clear TPM.
      • Caution: clearing the TPM can cause data loss. Back up data first.
    5. If the issue started after reinstalling Windows and the TPM still fails in Windows after BIOS and firmware updates, the remaining documented causes are usually TPM hardware or firmware issues.
      • If the device supports switching TPM mode from 1.2 to 2.0, switch to 2.0.
      • If that does not help, contact the hardware vendor to check for a newer UEFI/BIOS/TPM update.
      • If no update resolves it, the documented next step is hardware diagnosis by the manufacturer.
    6. If Event Viewer shows TPM communication failures such as TPM command errors, make sure the latest Windows servicing stack update, monthly cumulative update, and any available BIOS/TPM firmware updates are installed.

A few important notes for this scenario:

    • A TPM being visible in BIOS does not guarantee Windows can use it.
    • If Windows reports TPM is not usable, Device Encryption and BitLocker-related features may also fail.
    • Windows activation status is not identified here as the cause of TPM detection problems.
