I have an SanDisk Ultra 16 GB MicroSD plugged in through an adapter. I hear the sound letting me know something's plugged in but it wont show the sound files. I went to disc management and it just said no media.

    Hello E,

I understand how concerning this can be, especially if the audio files on the MicroSD card are important.

Since Disk Management shows “No Media,” Windows may be detecting the card reader or adapter without being able to access the memory card itself. Before making any changes, please avoid formatting or initializing the card, as this could affect the files stored on it.

In addition to testing the card with another reader or computer, please check the following:

    • Remove the MicroSD card from the adapter, gently reinsert it, and make sure it is seated correctly.
    • If the adapter uses USB, connect it directly to another USB port on the computer rather than through a hub or docking station.
    • Open Device Manager, expand Disk drives and Memory technology devices, then check whether the card or reader displays a warning icon.
    • If a warning appears, open the device’s Properties and share the message or error code shown under Device status.
    • Please also let me know whether this card worked previously and whether other MicroSD cards can be read through the same adapter.

Please note that SanDisk and its recovery or warranty services are provided by a third party. Microsoft does not manage their products, policies, services, or support process, so any information or assistance offered by SanDisk is subject to their own terms and availability.

If the card continues to show “No Media” with different readers or computers, the issue is more likely related to the card itself. If the files are important, it would be safer to stop further write or formatting attempts and review the SanDisk data recovery and warranty options.

Please share what appears in Device Manager, and we can narrow down the next step. Thank you so much for your understanding.

If that SD card is not visible in Disk Management, connect that adapter up to another PC to check if it is working in that PC.

If not, you need to find a PC with an internal card reader to check if the SD card is working in that PC to work out if the problem is with the adapter or if the SD Card has failed.
