Using New Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
If the source account is in new Outlook for Windows, direct .pst mailbox import is not supported. The supported path depends on what format the old mail is in:
- If the old mail was exported as
.emlfiles- In new Outlook, go to Settings > General > Import.
- Select Start import.
- In File Explorer, browse to the folder where the .eml files were saved and select Upload.
- Choose the account and folder to import into, then select Import.
- Each folder must be imported separately.
- If the old account data is in an Outlook
.pstfile- Switch from new Outlook to classic Outlook using the New Outlook toggle.
- In classic Outlook, select File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
- Select Import from another program or file > Next.
- Select Outlook Data File (.pst) > Next.
- Browse to the
.pstfile. - Choose how to handle duplicates, then select Next.
- Select the destination mailbox or Import items into the current folder, then select Finish.
- If only a few messages are needed from a
.pst- In classic Outlook, open the
.pstfile and drag items from that file into the current mailbox.
- In classic Outlook, open the
If the account is closing soon, export or save the mail before the account is removed so the data remains available for import.
