Wait maybe another 30 minutes to test if the update completes.

If not, is the update stuck in the downloading phase inside Widows, or has your system rebooted and on a black screen installing the update?

If your PC has rebooted and stuck on a black screen installing the update, you have no other choice, press and hold the power button on the case of your PC to perform a hard shut down, wait a few seconds, then start your PC again, the update should then either complete or roll back.

If the update is stuck inside Windows in the download phase, please provide a screenshot of the updates window in the Settings app.

If Windows Update is stuck at 99%, use this order of checks:

    1. Wait a little longer if there is still disk activity If the drive is still active, the update may still be finishing.
    2. Restart the PC A restart can clear apps or processes that are blocking the update.
    3. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter
      • Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Find Windows Update and select Run.
      • Follow the on-screen steps.
    4. Check free disk space Windows needs at least:
      • 16 GB free for a 32-bit OS
      • 20 GB free for a 64-bit OS
    5. Check the Windows Update service
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Find Windows Update.
      • Right-click Properties.
      • Set Startup type to Automatic.
      • If the service is stopped, select Start.
      • Select Apply > OK.
    6. Check for updates again
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
    7. Repair system files Open Command Prompt as administrator, then run:
         DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
         sfc /scannow

Wait for sfc to reach 100%, then try Windows Update again.
    8. If the update remains stuck at the same percentage, check for updates again or rerun the troubleshooter This is specifically recommended for updates stuck in the 51–99% range.
    9. If the issue is with Windows Upgrade Assistant stuck at 99% for more than four hours Before restarting, copy C:\$GetCurrent\Media to the desktop, restart, copy it back to C:\$GetCurrent, then open Setup from the Media folder. On Get important updates, select Not right now, then continue the upgrade.
    10. After the upgrade completes, install all available updates
    • Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    • Select Check for updates.
    • Install all available updates.
    • Restart the PC when finished.
