I have followed all the online guidance for setting up reminders in New outlook and on MS Office and despite verifying all the settings are correct, i do not receive any meeting or task reminders. The reminders icon is shown on the view ribbon and when I open it its always empty which is not correct.

    Hi @Michelle Evans,

Thank you for confirming that you are using a work account configured for NHS Wales and that you have already checked the available reminder and notification settings.

Since you do not have the administrative permissions needed to review the organisation’s configuration, I recommend sharing the following checks with your Digital or IT team:

    1. Ask them to confirm whether Outlook or Windows notifications are restricted by an organisational device or user policy assigned to your account.
    2. Test your account in New Outlook on another managed Windows device, and, if possible, test another NHS Wales account on your current device. This can help determine whether the issue follows the account or remains with the device.
    3. Repair New Outlook from Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Outlook (new) > Advanced options > Repair. If Repair does not help, your IT team may consider Reset. Please note that Reset can remove local app data and may require you to sign in again.

    1. Confirm that Windows and New Outlook are fully updated to the versions approved by your organisation.

If the issue continues after these checks, the administrator can open a support request with Microsoft. It would be helpful to include screenshots of the empty Reminders window, the New Outlook and Windows version numbers, the time of a test event, and the results of the account/device comparison.

They can follow steps from this link: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

I hope these additional checks help your Digital team narrow down the cause. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Best regards.

    Hi Michelle Evans,

Since you have already verified the notification settings, the next useful step is to determine whether the reminders are missing from the account itself or only from the new Outlook app.

At this point, I recommend that you review and try the steps provided in the AI generated answer on your thread. That reply typically include the most relevant checks for this scenario.

Please create a new test event in your primary calendar, set its reminder for a few minutes later, and then check the same event in Outlook on the web using the same account. You can also create a test task in To Do with a reminder.

If the reminders are missing there as well, please mention whether the affected items are in your primary calendar, a shared calendar, or another account. If they appear correctly on the web but the Reminders window in new Outlook remains empty, use Help > Support or Help > Feedback in new Outlook to report the app-specific behavior.

For reference, Microsoft’s guidance explains how reminders should work in new Outlook: Add or delete notifications or reminders in Outlook. Thank you so much for your understanding.

Note: Please follow the steps in our documentation to enable e-mail notifications if you want to receive the related email notification for this thread.

For new Outlook for Windows, the most relevant checks are these:

    1. Verify reminder notifications are enabled in new Outlook
      • Go to Settings > General > Notifications.
      • Under Notify me about, expand Calendar.
      • Turn notifications On.
      • Select a reminder style such as a popup reminder, and enable sound if needed.
      • If reminders for older items are being cleared automatically, check whether Automatically dismiss reminders for past events is turned on.
    2. Verify a reminder is actually set on the items
      • For all calendar events: go to Settings > Calendar > Events and invitations.
      • Under Events you create, check the Default reminder value.
      • Open one affected meeting and confirm its Reminder value is not set to Don’t remind me.
      • For tasks: open To Do, select the task, and confirm Remind me is set.
    3. Check Windows and Teams conditions that suppress notifications
      • Windows settings such as Notifications, Focus Assist, or Do not disturb can interfere with Outlook notifications.
      • If Microsoft Teams is in Do not disturb, Outlook notifications can also be affected.
    4. If the reminders pane stays empty, test with a newly created event
      • Create a new calendar event a few minutes in the future.
      • Set an explicit reminder time.
      • Save it and check whether it appears in the reminders window and triggers a notification.
      • If existing items fail but new items work, open the affected meetings individually and re-save their reminder setting.
    5. If reminders still do not appear, reset the reminder state in classic Outlook only if available
      • For Outlook reminder corruption, Microsoft documents outlook.exe /cleanreminders for Outlook.
      • This is intended for Outlook reminder issues such as reminders that cannot be dismissed or keep reappearing.
    6. If using Outlook on the web as a comparison test
      • In Outlook on the web, notifications only appear while Outlook is open in the browser.

If the issue is specifically that the Reminders window is always empty even though meetings and tasks have reminders configured, that points to reminder processing not working correctly in the app rather than just a notification banner setting. In that case, the supported checks from the documentation are: confirm Settings > General > Notifications > Calendar is enabled, confirm each item has a reminder set, and rule out Windows or Teams suppression.
