Excel Macro not working

When I run Excel Macros on my laptop to get powerpoint presentation out of them, the titles of the slides are fine but the way the tables get pasted is wrong. This happens just to me and to none of my colleagues. If I paste a table from Excel into powerpoint, I have to select "Keep source formatting" to see it the right way, otherwise I see it with the wrong font and a grey background like I see the Macro generated tables. Since the Macro code is in an internally shared document with my team and it works for everyone but me, what could be the issue?

Hi Darren, no unfortunately the issue still persists. The IT at work offers no support for Excel macros, so for now I have just accepted that I can't run them on my laptop. Thank you for your help!

    Dear Unilever,

Since the macro works correctly for your colleagues using the same workbook and code, this suggests the issue is likely related to your local Excel/PowerPoint configuration rather than the VBA macro itself.

Based on your description, the key clue is that manually pasting a table from Excel into PowerPoint only appears correctly when selecting "Keep Source Formatting." If using the default paste option results in the same incorrect font and gray background as the macro-generated slides, then PowerPoint on your machine may be applying destination theme formatting differently.
Here are some suggestions you can try:

    1/PowerPoint Theme / Slide Master

    • Compare the theme and Slide Master used on your machine with those of a colleague whose macro output appears correctly.
    • A customized default theme can affect table styles, fonts, and colors.

    2/Office Version and Build

    • Compare your Excel and PowerPoint version/build numbers with your colleagues' installations.
    • Different Office updates can sometimes affect copy/paste behavior between Office applications.

    3/Default Paste Settings

    • In PowerPoint, go to File > Options > Advanced and review the paste-related settings.
    • Differences in paste preferences can influence how Excel content is formatted when inserted.

    4/Font Availability

    • Verify that the fonts used in the source Excel workbook are installed and functioning correctly on your computer.
    • Missing fonts can cause PowerPoint to substitute different fonts and styles.

    5/Office Profile or Installation

    • Since the issue appears to affect only your machine, consider testing with a different Windows profile or performing an Office Online Repair to rule out corrupted Office settings.

As a quick test, try manually copying one of the affected tables and paste it into PowerPoint using:

    1. Keep Source Formatting
    2. Use Destination Theme
    3. Picture

If Use Destination Theme reproduces the same gray-background formatting seen in the macro-generated slides, that would strongly indicate a local PowerPoint theme or formatting configuration issue rather than a problem with the macro itself.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
