Environment

Subscription:

MCPP Subscription

Video Indexer:

  • Resource: mldbc-video-indexer
  • Region: East US

Azure OpenAI:

  • Resource: mldbc-openai
  • Region: East US
  • Status: Active

Azure AI Foundry:

  • Resource: mldbc-foundry
  • Region: East US

Active Azure OpenAI Deployments:

  • gpt-5.4 (Global Batch)
  • gpt-5.4-mini (Data Zone Standard)

Issue

I am attempting to enable Azure AI Video Indexer Textual Summarization.

From Azure Portal:

mldbc-video-indexer

→ Azure OpenAI (connect)

The connection dialog displays:

"No available resources on the subscription"

Expected Result

The Azure OpenAI resource "mldbc-openai" should appear in the resource picker and be available for selection.

Actual Result

Video Indexer reports:

"No available resources on the subscription"

even though an Azure OpenAI resource exists and has active model deployments.

Troubleshooting Already Performed

  • Created Azure AI Foundry resource: mldbc-foundry
  • Created Azure OpenAI resource: mldbc-openai
  • Verified Azure OpenAI resource is Active
  • Verified Azure OpenAI resource is in East US
  • Verified Video Indexer resource is in East US
  • Created deployment:
  • gpt-5.4
  • Created deployment:
  • gpt-5.4-mini (Data Zone Standard)
  • Verified deployments are operational in Azure OpenAI Chat Playground
  • Verified deployments are visible and active
  • Refreshed Azure Portal
  • Reopened Azure OpenAI connection dialog multiple times

Question

Are there additional requirements for Azure AI Video Indexer to discover Azure OpenAI resources?

Examples:

  • specific deployment types
  • supported model families
  • content filters
  • RBAC permissions
  • managed identity assignments
  • propagation delays
  • Azure OpenAI configuration requirements

Please advise why Video Indexer cannot discover the Azure OpenAI resource despite the Azure OpenAI resource and deployments being active.

Screenshots available upon request.

    Update:

I created an additional deployment using a documented Azure AI Video Indexer supported model:

    • gpt-5-mini
    • version: 2025-08-07

The deployment is active and available in Azure OpenAI Chat Playground.

    After deployment creation, I re-opened:

    mldbc-video-indexer

    → Azure OpenAI (connect)

    The dialog still displays:

"No available resources on the subscription"

This suggests the issue is not caused by unsupported model deployments.
