Most likely that is caused by the graphics drivers not initializing correctly after a restart.

The best option is to completely remove the current graphics driver using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturer's website to download and install their recommended version of the graphics driver.

Try these steps in order, checking after each one to see if the display returns to normal.

    1. Wake and reset the graphics driver
      • When the screen is white after waking, press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B once.
      • The screen should flicker or you may hear a beep; this resets the graphics driver and can fix wake‑from‑sleep display issues.
    2. Check basic display connections
      • If using an external monitor, make sure the cable is firmly connected and the monitor is powered on.
      • If possible, try another cable or monitor to rule out a hardware issue.
    3. Test display modes
      • Press Windows + P, then press P again and Enter to cycle through display modes (PC screen only, Duplicate, Extend, Second screen only).
      • Repeat a few times to ensure Windows is actually sending output to the correct display.
    4. Restart Windows Explorer (if the cursor is visible)
      • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
      • Select More details if needed.
      • On the Processes tab, find Windows Explorer, right‑click it, and select Restart.
      • If Windows Explorer is missing, select File > Run new task, type explorer.exe, and press Enter.
    5. Force restart the PC
      • Hold the Power button for about 20 seconds until the PC powers off.
      • Wait a few seconds, then power it back on and test waking from sleep again.
    6. Boot to Safe Mode and update/roll back display drivers (if the problem persists)
      • Force shutdown by holding the power button for 10 seconds.
      • Turn the PC on and, as Windows starts, repeat the force‑shutdown 2–3 times until Recovery Mode appears.
      • Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
      • Press F5 to start Safe Mode with Networking.
      • In Safe Mode, open Device Manager → expand Display adapters → right‑click the graphics adapter → choose Update driver.
      • If the issue started after a recent driver update, use Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver instead.
    7. Use System Restore if this started recently
      • From Recovery Mode or within Windows, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore.
      • Choose a restore point from before the white‑screen‑after‑wake issue began and follow the wizard.

If the display behaves normally in Safe Mode but not in normal startup, the cause is very likely the graphics driver or related software; updating or rolling back the driver as above is the key step.

Main Fix: Turn Off "Use HDR" (Recommended for you)

    1. Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
    2. Scroll down and click on HDR (or look for the HDR section).
    3. Turn off the toggle that says Use HDR (or "Play HDR games and apps").
