Microsoft Bookings bug - random bookings show different time to patron

We have a persistent problem with Microsoft Bookings on our campus. Random people book for 2:30pm, for instance, and it shows to me as 4:30pm. But it only happens to a select few people. Most people who book for say 11:00am, it shows 11:00am for both me and them. When the bug happens, it's always 2 hours. They show up 2 hours before their appointment.

It's super frustrating because they show up for their appointment 2 hours early...and I'm usually not available. And they aren't available for the appointment on my calendar that is 2 hours later. I've gotten 8 bookings in the last 24 hours and 2 of them showed the wrong time to the patron booking with me.

I've tested by changing a device to 4 hours earlier than my time zone and making a booking. It showed as 8:15am to me on the device and booked it at 12:15pm (the correct time zone). So, it's isn't a time zone issue.

Does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks!

    Hi @RB

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Thank you for sharing the details about the time difference in your bookings. I understand how challenging it can be when patrons arrive at the wrong time, it can throw off your schedule and theirs.

Below is a clear, step‑by‑step guide that usually fixes this specific 2‑hour offset in Microsoft Bookings. I’ve also included official Microsoft references for transparency.

    1. Confirm consistent time-zone settings

Microsoft Bookings uses two separate time‑zone settings, one for your personal Outlook calendar and one for the public booking page:

    • Outlook (your calendar):  Go to Outlook on the web → Settings (gear icon on the top-right) → search “time zone,” confirm it’s correct, then save.  User's image User's image
    • Booking page:
    • In Microsoft 365, select the app launcher, and then select Bookings.
    • In the navigation pane, select Booking page and select Change language and time zone settings.
    • Select your language and current time zone and choose OK.  User's image User's image

Note: Both must match, mismatched settings often lead to incorrect time displays.

    2. Disable “Always show time slots in business time zone”

Some users report this setting can shift times unexpectedly, especially when syncing with external calendars like Apple or Outlook:

    • In Bookings → Booking page → uncheck "Always show time slots in business time zone"
    • Also check Staff → select your staff profile → verify their time zone aligns, and that “Events on Office calendar affect availability” and “Use business hours” are enabled.

    3. Clear app/browser cache and restart apps

Time-zone mismatches can be cached by your browser or the Bookings app:

      4. Verify local device time-zone

Though you've tested this already, double-check:

    • Your computer or device clock should be set to the correct current time zone, ideally using “Set time zone automatically.”
    • Even if the device appears correct, ensure Outlook calendar and Bookings are displaying in the same zone.

      5. Additional troubleshooting steps

    If the issue persists:

    • Cross-check Proposed Bookings Times: When making a test booking, confirm what time the recipient sees and how it's rendered in their calendar invite.
    • Staff Profile Time Zones: Ensure each affected staff member's profile under Staff settings has the correct zone.

Additionally, as other users have raised similar concerns and may not be aware of where to share their feedback, I hope this response helps clarify the situation and suggests a potential next step. Highlighting this information can make it more visible to others in the community who may be facing the same issue, making it easier for them to find guidance and contribute their feedback as well.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

I look forward to your thoughts on this.

Sending warm wishes to you and your loved ones for a happy and successful New Year.
