Problem description

I am experiencing a failure during an Azure Local update to version 12.2603.1002.502, which occurs during a Secure Boot CAU run. The update fails because the node was drained but did not enter storage maintenance mode, leading to guest VM I/O errors. I am seeking guidance on how to properly enter storage maintenance mode during node drain and resolve the update failure.

Environment

Azure Local service on Lenovo hardware, running Windows 10 24H2, build 26100.ge_release, region not specified.

What I've already tried

I reviewed self-help guidance focusing on cluster/service health and storage readiness, including commands like Test-AzStackHciConnectivity and Get-ClusterNode. I also attempted to drain the node and manually place storage into maintenance mode, but encountered errors such as DrainMgr error 1359 and issues with storage maintenance mode application. No diagnostic output was captured, and the cluster appeared healthy afterward.

Current status

I am looking for detailed steps to ensure storage maintenance mode is correctly applied during node drain to facilitate successful update installation and prevent guest VM I/O errors.
