Hello !

I've been unable to install any cumulative/security update since August 2026.

Current system :

  • Windows 11 Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8875)
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 Gaming WiFi6
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5080 Gaming OC
  • SSD: Crucial P310 4TB NVMe
  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6000 (2x16GB)

Current failed update :

  • 2026-10 Security Update (KB5127648)
  • Error code: 0x800f0845

Symptoms :

  1. Update downloads and installs normally.
  2. Windows requests a restart.
  3. After reboot, Windows shows:
    • "You're 30% there"
    • "Please keep your computer on"
      1. System restarts.
      2. Manufacturer logo appears.
      3. Screen goes black and enters sleep mode.
      4. Fans continue running at a constant speed indefinitely.
      5. Waiting several hours does not change anything.
      6. First manual restart still hangs.
      7. Second manual restart launches Automatic Repair.
  4. Windows rolls back the update and reports error 0x800f0845.

Troubleshooting already performed :

  • Cloud Reset with removal of all files
  • Update still fails immediately after reset
  • Update also fails during Windows Setup when choosing the option to download updates during installation
  • DISM /CheckHealth reports no corruption
  • DISM /ScanHealth reports no corruption
  • SSD firmware is current (Crucial Storage Executive reports latest firmware installed)
  • SSD SMART status is healthy with no critical warnings
  • BIOS updated to Gigabyte F11
  • Secure Boot enabled
  • UEFI mode
  • EXPO disabled and tested at stock settings
  • Latest AMD chipset drivers installed
  • Latest NVIDIA drivers installed
  • Memory Integrity disabled for testing (no change)
  • Hypervisor/VBS disabled for testing (no change)
  • Windows Recovery Environment and BCD appear normal
  • No obvious WHEA, disk, or storage errors observed

CBS log observations :

I consistently see :

Failed to enumerate packages for capability: E_INVALIDARG

Failed to enumerate store capabilities for FOD inventory.: E_INVALIDARG

Failed to generate FOD inventory hash: E_INVALIDARG

followed by :

CbsExecuteStateFlagAdvancedInstallersFailed

and eventually rollback with :

0x800f0845

Question :

Has Microsoft identified any known issue involving :

  • Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200)
  • Ryzen 9000 series CPUs
  • B850 motherboards
  • cumulative/security updates failing with 0x800f0845

Are there any additional update logs or diagnostics I should collect to identify what causes the rollback during the offline servicing phase ?

    Hi Alex,

If possible, try a repair installation via Settings. See Fix issues by reinstalling the current version of Windows | Microsoft Support

If that doesn't help, zip the entire CBS folder and share it on OneDrive.
