    Hi, @steve alexander

Are you trying to sync the Hotmail account using the Microsoft Outlook mobile app, the Samsung Email app, or another mail app on your Samsung S26?

If you are not using the Outlook app, I suggest installing Microsoft Outlook from the Google Play Store and adding the Hotmail account there, since it is usually the most reliable option for Outlook.com/Hotmail accounts on Android.

Also, what exactly happens when you try to add or sync the account? If there is an error message, please provide the exact wording.

    Thanks!

For a Hotmail account on a Samsung Android phone, calendar and contacts will not sync if the account is added as IMAP or POP. It must be added as Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync.

    Try this:

    1. On the Samsung phone, open Settings > Accounts > Exchange > tap the Hotmail account.
    2. Make sure Sync Calendar is enabled.
    3. If the account is listed as IMAP, remove it and add it again as Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync.
    4. When re-adding in the Samsung Email app, choose Exchange ActiveSync or Exchange.
    5. If server settings are requested for a Hotmail account, use:
      • Exchange Server: eas.outlook.com
      • Port: 443 or 993
      • Security type: SSL/TLS
      • SMTP Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
      • SMTP Port: 587
      • SMTP Security: TLS

If using the Gmail app instead of Samsung Email, adding the account as IMAP or POP will sync only email, not calendar or contacts.

A simpler option is to use Outlook for Android, which supports email, calendar, and contacts for Outlook.com accounts.

If Outlook for Android is installed and mail still does not sync, Android battery restrictions can block background sync. On Samsung devices, open Settings > Apps > Authenticator > Battery and set it to Unrestricted.

If the account still will not sync after re-adding it as Exchange, contact Microsoft support for Outlook.com accounts.
