Check Xbox Status first because simultaneous Xbox sign-in failures in both Solitaire and Minesweeper may be a service-side incident that cannot be fixed on the PC.^1^
1. Check for an Xbox or Casual Games incident
- Open Xbox Status and look for an alert affecting Account & profile, sign-in, or games.^1^
- Check the Microsoft Casual Games known-issues page for a Solitaire or Minesweeper incident.^2^
- If an incident is listed, no further repair is necessary; monitor those pages and try again after Microsoft marks the incident resolved.
The public pages do not establish whether an outage is currently active, so the live status shown there is decisive.
2. If no incident appears
Since restarting and Repair did not help, move to different recovery actions:
- Update Windows
- Windows 11: Start → Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates
- Windows 10: Start → Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → Check for updates
- Install all available updates.
- Update Store apps
- Open Microsoft Store → Library → Get updates.
- Install updates for Microsoft Solitaire Collection, Microsoft Minesweeper, Xbox, Gaming Services, and Microsoft Store if offered. Microsoft documents Windows Update, Store updates, reset, and reinstallation as its Store-app recovery sequence.^3^
- Reset the Microsoft Store cache
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
wsreset.exe, then select OK.
- A blank Command Prompt window should appear briefly, close automatically, and reopen Microsoft Store.^4^
- Open each game and test Xbox sign-in again.
- Reinstall only the affected games
- In Settings → Apps → Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & features (Windows 10), uninstall Solitaire and Minesweeper.
- Open Microsoft Store → Library, locate each game, and select Install.^3^
Cloud-synchronized progress should return after sign-in, but locally stored, unsynchronized data may be lost when uninstalling.
3. Distinguish an account issue from a PC-profile issue
Try signing in to the same personal Microsoft account through a browser and, if available, the Xbox app.
- Browser sign-in also fails: use Microsoft’s account sign-in troubleshooter; the issue is broader than these games.^5^
- Browser works, but Xbox and both games fail only in the current Windows profile: create a temporary local user under Settings → Accounts → Other users → Add account → I don’t have this person’s sign-in information → Add a user without a Microsoft account. Sign into that Windows profile, open Microsoft Store, and test the same Microsoft account. A successful test indicates that the original Windows profile is the affected scope; migrating to a new profile is a documented Q&A resolution for that condition.^6^
If none of these paths resolves it, report the exact error message or code, Windows version, and whether browser/Xbox-app sign-in succeeds; those details determine whether the next path is account recovery, Gaming Services recovery, or Windows-profile repair.
