How to change the account holder

I want to continue with 365, but only the account holder has the access to AI. I want one of the users to have that specific access and am happy to just niminate that other email address as the account holder. I was told that was not possible, so instead I have to cancel and open a new 365 account in the name of one of the users and let them share the other benefits. Have I got that right, or can I switch the account holder from one person to another one in the same group?

No. The subscription owner cannot be switched from one Microsoft account to another on the same Microsoft 365 subscription.

For Microsoft 365 Family, only the subscription account holder can share the subscription, and AI benefits are only available to the subscription owner. Those AI features cannot be shared with other family members.

    The supported path is:

    1. Let the current subscription run until the current period ends.
    2. Turn off recurring billing on the current subscription so it expires.
    3. Purchase a new Microsoft 365 subscription using the Microsoft account of the person who should have the AI features.
    4. Have that new owner share the subscription with the other family members.

If the goal is specifically to give one existing family member the AI access included with the plan, that person must be the new subscription owner on a newly purchased subscription.
