Hello,

After installing security update KB5002934, we started experiencing copy/paste and formula-related issues in Microsoft Excel 2016. The symptoms are similar to those we previously experienced with KB5002914.

We tested uninstalling KB5002934 and confirmed that the affected functionality returned to normal.

Has anyone else experienced the same issues after installing this update? Is Microsoft aware of this behavior, and is there a fix or workaround that allows us to keep the security update installed?

Please let us know what diagnostic information would be useful for further investigation.

Thank you.

    Hello!

We run the same problem. Each pc has downloaded the KB5002934 has excel problems. The PCs are running Windows 11 Pro and we cannot uninstall the update via control panel.

Could you please tell me how to uninstall it?

When we had problem with the KB5002914 update I used the command

    "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE16\Oarpmany.exe" /removereleaseinpatch "{90160000-0012-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}" "{27882596-A8ED-4382-9C71-6CD2DD19F732}" "1033" "0"

    to uninstall it.

Which command should I use to uninstall the KB5002934.

    Thanks in advanced,

    Maria

    Hello,

When will an update be released to address this issue? We are forced to uninstall and reinstall the application, which causes significant inconvenience for users. Progress on this matter is extremely slow—are you going to continue leaving us in this difficult situation? Resolving an issue should not take 40 days.

Since uninstalling KB5002934 restores the affected Excel functions, I’d check whether the issue occurs on multiple computers and whether they have the same Excel 2016 version and other Office updates installed.

Before rolling back the security update across more devices, I’d document the exact copy/paste and formula problems, along with the Office build number and Windows version, and report them through Microsoft Support. I’d also check the update’s official Microsoft documentation for known issues or a newer replacement update.

For now, I’d avoid assuming KB5002934 is the confirmed cause until Microsoft investigates, even though your uninstall test strongly suggests a connection. I wouldn’t recommend leaving the security update uninstalled long-term without an approved mitigation.
