Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
If the old address is still attached to the Microsoft account, remove or replace it in the account settings:
- Open Edit account info: https://account.live.com/names/manage
- Select Add email to add the current address if it is not already listed.
- If needed, set the current address as the primary alias with Make primary.
- Select Remove next to the old email address.
If the old address is being used only as a verification or security method, remove it from Security info instead:
- Open the Security info page.
- Select Delete next to the old Email method.
- Confirm with Yes.
Important:
- If the old address is the current primary alias, another address must be made primary before it can be removed.
- Deleting a security email cannot be undone; it must be added again if removed by mistake.
- If sign-in is blocked because security information was recently changed, account changes that require a security code can be temporarily unavailable during the protection period.
- If the goal is only to stop that old address being used for sign-in, it can be blocked in Your info > Sign-in preferences instead of removing it.
If access to the account is currently blocked by the old verification address, use the available sign-in or recovery options and then update the alias or security info after access is restored.
