    Comcast Migration to Yahoo

Outlook will try to connect you to the Comcast Mail Servers because your email ends with comcast.net. You have to trick Outlook into using the Yahoo Mail Servers instead. For step-by-step instructions see:

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

You should first log into mail.yahoo.com with your Comcast address to make sure the mailbox has been moved. Afterword, please follow Yahoo's instructions for setting up access to your mailbox with Outlook. See https://help.yahoo.com/kb/new-yahoo-mail/SLN36803.html

Check the classic Outlook version under File > Office Account > Product Information, and configure the Comcast address as an IMAP account using Xfinity’s server settings—the account-selection screen does not need to show a Yahoo option.

    Find the classic Outlook version

    1. Open Outlook and select File.
    2. Select Office Account. If that option is absent, select Help.
    3. Look under Product Information for the Outlook version and build number.
    4. To check whether Outlook is 32-bit or 64-bit, select About Outlook. ^1^

If Outlook has a Settings gear in the upper-right corner, it is new Outlook, not classic Outlook. In new Outlook, find the version under Settings > General > About Outlook. ^1^

Add the Comcast address in classic Outlook

Although Comcast is moving accounts to a Yahoo-hosted platform, Xfinity’s published email-client instructions still specify Xfinity/Comcast servers. Therefore, use the Comcast email address and Xfinity settings rather than selecting Yahoo:

    1. Select File > Add Account.
    2. Enter the full Comcast email address.
    3. Select Advanced options, check Let me set up my account manually, and select Connect.
    4. Choose IMAP. Microsoft recommends IMAP when mail is used on multiple devices because messages remain synchronized with the email service. ^2^
    5. Enter the settings supplied by Xfinity:
      • Incoming server: imap.comcast.net
      • Incoming port: 993
      • Encryption: SSL/TLS
      • Outgoing server: smtp.comcast.net
      • Outgoing port: 465 or 587
      • Encryption: SSL/TLS
      • Username: the full Comcast email address
    6. Enter the account password and select Connect. Xfinity documents these settings for third-party email programs. ^3^

Microsoft documents the same manual setup path—File > Add Account > Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually > IMAP—when automatic discovery does not find a third-party account’s settings. ^4^

If setup reaches the IMAP details page, leave Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unchecked. ^4^

Do not substitute Yahoo’s consumer server names unless Comcast/Xfinity provides account-specific instructions directing you to do so.
