Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with Microsoft Edge on Linux. When I start typing in text fields on websites, the page becomes unresponsive (but scrollable) or freezes temporarily. The operating system itself and edge continues to work normally,i have to undo this by closing the tab and the issue appears to be limited to Edge.

The most useful next step is to isolate Edge’s writing assistance first, because the freeze is triggered specifically by text entry, then test GPU acceleration and profile components separately before filing a reproducible Edge report.
There is a closely matching public report for Edge 154 on Ubuntu involving freezes while typing, particularly when pressing Space, but it has no accepted resolution ^1^. Microsoft’s current known-issues page does not list this exact Edge 155/Linux text-input problem ^2^.
Since system resources and storage are already ruled out, avoid repeating those checks. Test after each change so the responsible component can be identified.
edge://settings/languages.edge://settings/system.edge://extensions.CachyOS is Arch-based and is not one of Microsoft’s officially supported Edge Linux distributions. Microsoft lists Ubuntu, Debian, openSUSE, and Fedora; other distributions might run Edge but are not officially supported ^5^.
That does not prove CachyOS caused the failure, but it limits Microsoft’s ability to validate Cinnamon/Muffin, Arch packaging, and rolling-release library combinations. For a decisive comparison, reproduce it using the official Edge package on a supported distribution—ideally from a live USB or separate installation—without changing the existing CachyOS system.
Changing from X11 to Wayland is only a relevant test if the Cinnamon login screen actually offers a supported Wayland session. Do not treat it as the primary fix; the available evidence does not establish an X11 cause.
Your 155.0.4283.45 build is the current documented Edge 155 Stable release ^6^. If all four isolation tests fail:

edge://crashes and note any crash ID. A renderer hang may produce no crash ID.The current evidence supports a possible Edge/Chromium Linux regression, but not a confirmed spell-check, X11, Cinnamon, font-cache, or GPU root cause.
