Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
New Outlook currently does not provide a user-facing setting to suppress only the recurring “Draft with Copilot” or “Press Alt+I to draft with Copilot” prompt while keeping Copilot enabled for selected messages.^1^
Available choices
- Keep Copilot enabled: The prompt remains, but Copilot can be invoked when needed from New mail → Copilot icon → Draft. Microsoft also documents Draft with Copilot in the message area as an entry point.^2^
- Hide Copilot entry points more broadly: Open Settings (gear) → Copilot and adjust the Copilot toggle for the account. This setting hides Copilot entry points and roams across Outlook clients, so it is not a prompt-only control and does not preserve the requested on-demand Outlook experience.^3^
- Request a prompt-only option: In New Outlook, select Help → Feedback and request an option to hide the compose prompt while retaining the toolbar command. This is the official feedback path identified for this specific limitation.^1^
Avoid changing Microsoft 365 privacy settings or removing the Copilot license for this purpose: those actions disable broader functionality rather than only this drafting prompt.
