Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
This usually happens for one of these reasons:
- The subscription has not fully applied to the Microsoft account yet.
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, the storage increase to 100 GB can appear shortly after a paid subscription starts.
- In some cases, storage updates can take a few hours, and similar support guidance notes it can take up to 24–48 hours to reflect across services.
- The wrong Microsoft account is signed in.
- The storage benefit applies only to the Microsoft account that owns the subscription.
- If the Lenovo-bundled subscription was redeemed on a different Microsoft account, OneDrive will still show the free 5 GB on the current account.
- The subscription is not active on the account.
- If the account shows a Free badge instead of Subscribed, only free web apps and 5 GB of OneDrive storage are available.
- The subscription was canceled, expired, or not successfully activated.
- If a qualifying subscription is canceled, cloud storage can revert to 5 GB.
To overcome it:
- Check whether the subscription is active.
- Go to
account.microsoft.com/services. - Confirm the Microsoft 365 subscription is listed as active on the same Microsoft account being used in OneDrive.
- Go to
- Check the actual storage quota.
- Open OneDrive storage management and verify whether it shows 5 GB or 100 GB.
- If the subscription was just activated, wait a few hours, then refresh the storage page.
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Sign out of Microsoft 365 and OneDrive, then sign back in with the same Microsoft account that redeemed the bundled subscription.
- This can refresh the quota shown by OneDrive.
- If the subscription is shared, confirm the invitation was accepted.
- For shared subscriptions, the invited person must accept the invitation.
- After acceptance, storage changes can take about 2 hours to appear, and the storage page may need to be refreshed.
- If storage is full, reduce usage or upgrade.
- If the account has exceeded its cloud storage quota, OneDrive can become read-only and Outlook.com mail can stop sending and receiving.
- Freeing space or using the included subscription storage resolves that condition.
- If the account still shows 5 GB after the subscription is active and enough time has passed, contact Microsoft Support.
- Similar support guidance recommends contacting support when the subscription is active but the quota does not update.
Important detail for the bundled Lenovo offer:
- The laptop bundle does not increase storage by itself until the offer is redeemed and attached to a Microsoft account. The storage appears only on the account where the subscription is activated.
