Settle the overdue invoice using the payment workflow for your billing account type; Azure can then take up to 24 hours to reactivate the subscription.^1^
1. Identify the billing account type
Sign in using the Account Administrator account, then:
- Open Azure portal → Cost Management + Billing.
- If there is one billing scope, select Properties and check Type.
- If there are multiple scopes, select Billing scopes and check Billing account type.^2^
Then use the matching payment path below.
2. Pay the outstanding balance
Microsoft Online Subscription Program / pay-as-you-go
- Go to Cost Management + Billing → Invoices.
- Select Settle balance for the due or past-due invoice. Some regions display Pay now instead.
- Select an existing valid card or Add new payment method.
- Complete multifactor authentication and select Pay.
Only the Account Administrator can settle this balance. If several subscriptions use the failed payment method and are past due, the entire outstanding balance must be paid together.^2^
Microsoft Customer Agreement
Select the past-due banner in the portal. It opens the invoice under the applicable Billing Profile Scope, where the Microsoft Customer Agreement bill can be paid.^1^
If the card is declined, contact the bank and check that:
- Sufficient funds or credit are available.
- International transactions are enabled.
- Recurring payments are enabled.
Alternatively, use another card.^3^
3. Allow reactivation to complete
Reactivation can take up to 24 hours after payment. Most resources resume automatically. After the subscription becomes Enabled, check the affected resources and restart them only if necessary.^1^
If payment has already succeeded but the subscription remains disabled after that processing period, Azure Support must investigate it.
4. Create a billing request when the normal ticket flow is blocked
Billing and subscription support is available 24 hours a day.^4^ Open the Help + support blade directly:
https://portal.azure.com/#view/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade/~/overview
Then:
- Select Create a support request.
- If the Support AI Assistant appears, select Switch to old experience.
- Enter re-enable subscription, then select Go.
- Select Subscription management, choose the affected subscription, and select Next.
- After the options load, select Create a support request at the top rather than one of the suggested solutions.
- Set:
- Problem type:
Re-enable my subscription
- Problem subtype:
Could not reactivate by self-service
- If suggested solutions appear, select Return to support request.
- Complete Additional details → Review + create → Create.^5^
Subscription-management support is free. Include the payment date, invoice/payment status, affected subscription, and any portal error as useful diagnostic information.
