I migrated my minecraft account over to microsoft back in 2021 when it was mandated. I now can't sign into my minecraft account because I cannot remember the email that I migrated too. This whole process has been incredibly frustrating as none of the methods for account recovery have worked. My phone number is associated with too many microsoft emails for me to effectively recover the correct one.

I have so much proof that the minecraft account I am trying to sign into is truly mine, but genuinely cannot remember the migration email. I have an email from Mojang confirming the account migration and I am logged into the Minecraft launcher with said account on two separate old laptops. Those former logins however, are associated with my pre-migration personal email.

What I would love is to be put in touch with a real person that can help me with this issue or guide me in the right direction. I can answer countless security questions and provide the proof I've previously mentioned. Finally, I want to make it abundantly clear that I have exhausted all other methods of account recovery listed on the Microsoft help pages. None have worked. How can I recover this email?

The Microsoft account recovery form is one of the last and most effective options for recovering your account when other verification methods are unavailable. To help prove that you are the owner of the account, I recommend that you resubmit the form and provide as accurate and detailed information as possible. The more accurate information you provide, the higher the chances of your request being successfully verified.

However, if the issue persists, you can reach out to Microsoft Accounts and Billing support by following these steps:

Type your problem in the search bar and press Enter.

Scroll down to the bottom and select the blue "Contact Support" button.

Use the two old laptops to inspect Microsoft accounts already registered in Windows, because this can reveal the migrated account’s email address without repeating the phone-based recovery methods that have already failed.

Check each old laptop

Do not sign out of Minecraft, Xbox, Microsoft Store, or Windows on either laptop.
Open Start → Settings → Accounts → Email & accounts.
Record every address shown under:
- Accounts used by email, calendar, and contacts
- Accounts used by other apps
Also open the Microsoft Store and Xbox app, select the profile icon, and inspect the currently selected account.
Compare the displayed Xbox gamertag with the gamertag belonging to the migrated Minecraft profile.

Microsoft specifically recommends checking Settings → Accounts → Email & app accounts on an already signed-in Windows 10/11 device. It also provides an Xbox walkthrough for finding the Microsoft email associated with a gamertag ^1^:

The Minecraft Launcher’s old Mojang email is not conclusive—the required address is the Microsoft account that owns the migrated entitlement. The official guidance does not document a method for extracting that address directly from the launcher.

Check records from the migration period

Search every accessible mailbox, including spam, archive, and deleted folders, for messages or receipts from Microsoft, Xbox, and Minecraft around the 2021 migration date. Microsoft recommends checking email accounts for Microsoft receipts involving digital games or subscriptions ^1^.

For each candidate address found on the laptops or in old messages, enter it at the Microsoft account sign-in page:

A password prompt means the address is recognized as a Microsoft account.
“We couldn’t find an account with that username” means that exact address is not currently recognized; check spelling and the domain, such as .com versus .co.uk ^2^.

Contact a support agent

Since the automated recovery paths have already been exhausted, use Contact Microsoft Support, select Personal account, describe the issue, and choose Get Help. If offered, select Contact Support to reach the available chat or callback option ^3^.

State the request narrowly:

“I need help identifying which Microsoft account received my completed 2021 Mojang migration. I still have the migrated Minecraft profile signed into the launcher on two devices, the gamertag, migration confirmation, original Mojang email, and purchase information.”

Have the following available:

Minecraft Java profile name and Xbox gamertag
Original Mojang email
Migration-confirmation message and date
Purchase receipt or transaction details
Screenshots from the old laptops
Candidate Microsoft addresses found under Windows, Store, or Xbox

A support agent may guide account identification or route the case appropriately, but Microsoft states that agents cannot send password-reset links or access and change account details ^3^. Consequently, ownership evidence does not guarantee that an agent can disclose the full migration email or manually override account recovery.

Do not remove aliases, create replacement accounts with candidate addresses, or sign out of the old laptops while investigating; preserve the existing sessions until the correct owning account is identified.
