Hello Warrie, Shaun,

I want to begin by sincerely apologizing for the frustration and inconvenience this issue has caused you.

To help narrow down the issue, could you please confirm:

  • Are you scheduling the meeting from Microsoft Teams, classic Outlook, new Outlook, or Outlook on the web?
  • Does this happen every time you attempt to schedule a Teams meeting?
  • Is this affecting only your account, or are other users in your organization experiencing the same issue?

In the meantime, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1.Please sign in to Microsoft Teams or Outlook on the web using the same account and try creating a Teams meeting.

2.Make sure Teams and Outlook are up to date.

3.Disable and re-enable the Teams Meeting add-in

If you are using classic Outlook for Windows, please try refreshing the Teams Meeting add-in:

  • Go to File > Options > Add-ins.
  • At the bottom of the window, next to Manage, select COM Add-ins, and then select Go.
  • Locate the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
  • Clear the checkbox for the Teams Meeting add-in to disable it and select OK.
  • Completely close Outlook and then reopen it.
  • Return to File > Options > Add-ins > COM Add-ins > Go.
  • Select the checkbox for the Teams Meeting add-in again and select OK.
  • Completely close and restart Outlook once more.
  • Create a new meeting and check whether you can now schedule it as a Teams meeting.

4.Check that Outlook and Teams use the same account

Please verify that Microsoft Teams and Outlook are signed in using the same Microsoft 365 work or school account, then try scheduling the meeting again.

5.Test another network

If possible and permitted by your organization, connect the device to another network and try scheduling the meeting again.

Please let me know the updates on your side whether it helps or not. If the issue still persists, please feel free to reply to me in the comment.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. I look forward to your update.

Check the account currently active in Teams; if it is a personal Microsoft account, sign out and sign back in with your organization’s licensed work or school account before scheduling again.

    1. Select your profile picture in Teams and identify the active account.
    2. If it is a personal account, select Sign out.
    3. Reopen Teams and sign in with the work or school account supplied by your organization.
    4. Go to Calendar → New, enter the meeting details, enable Teams meeting, and select Save. A similar Teams scheduling case was resolved by using the organization’s business account instead of a personal account.^1^

If the correct work account is already active

    1. Test Teams on the web.
Try Calendar → New → Teams meeting → Save. This is the supported scheduling flow.^2^
      • If web scheduling works, the issue is isolated to the desktop client.
      • If both web and desktop fail, proceed to the administrator checks below.
    2. Refresh or fully restart desktop Teams.
      • If Teams displays a synchronization banner, select Refresh.
      • Otherwise, right-click the Teams icon in the Windows taskbar or macOS Dock, select Quit, and reopen Teams.^3^
    3. Note the scope and exact location of the failure.
      Record whether it occurs in:
      • Teams desktop
      • Teams web
      • Classic Outlook
      • New Outlook
Also determine whether one user or multiple users are affected. This distinguishes a client/account issue from a tenant policy or service problem.

    Administrator checks

These checks require an appropriate Microsoft 365 or Teams administrator.

    1. Open Microsoft 365 admin center → Health → Service health.
    2. Review Microsoft Teams and Exchange Online for an active incident or advisory.
    3. If no matching issue appears, select Report an issue on the Service health page.^4^

There is no confirmed widespread outage established by the “try again later” message alone; Service health shows incidents applicable to your tenant.

If scheduling fails directly in Teams, check the user’s assigned meeting policy:

    1. Open Teams admin center → Meetings → Meeting policies.
    2. Open the policy assigned to the affected user.
    3. Under Meeting scheduling, set Allow scheduling for private meetings to On.
    4. Select Save.^5^

Only if the failure occurs in Outlook

Outlook scheduling additionally requires an Exchange mailbox, appropriate meeting-policy settings, and authentication for the Teams meeting integration.^5^

    For classic Outlook on Windows:

    1. Open File → Options → Add-ins.
    2. Confirm Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office appears under Active Application Add-ins.
    3. If it is disabled, select Manage → COM Add-ins → Go.
    4. Enable the Teams add-in, select OK, and restart Outlook.^6^

Do not apply those COM add-in steps to new Outlook; new Outlook uses native Teams meeting functionality rather than the classic COM add-in.^6^
