I use Microsoft photos and like the editing with AI feature. How many photos can I edit for free and how much does it cost for more?

Hi, Microsoft Photos has different AI editing features, and the limits depend on which one you're using.

Generative Erase works locally on your PC and has no published limit on the number of photos you can edit for free.

Edit with Designer offers free AI editing with usage limits. More extensive usage may require a Microsoft 365 subscription. There is no fixed price per additional photo.

You can check the subscription limits here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-copilot/ai-credits-and-limits-for-microsoft-365-subscriptions

There are two different AI editing paths in Microsoft Photos, and the limits depend on which one is being used:

    • Photos app local AI editing like Generative Erase runs locally on the device. No free photo-count limit or paid add-on price is stated for that feature in the provided information.
    • Edit with Designer in Microsoft Photos is an online AI experience and requires an internet connection. To use its AI features, a Microsoft account sign-in is required.

For usage limits and paid options, the available information points to Microsoft 365 subscription AI limits rather than a per-photo price:

    • Microsoft 365 Personal and Family include standard usage for Image gen.
    • Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro include extensive usage for Image gen.
    • Microsoft states these are usage caps that can vary by feature, entry point, and system conditions, and can change over time.
    • Usage is tracked automatically, and notifications appear when approaching or reaching a limit.

No fixed “number of photos for free” and no direct price per additional photo is provided in the available information.
