Re:  Changes to Microsoft 365 Family storage.

I have recently received an email advising me of changes to my Microsoft 365 subscription.  It is a family subscription.  Whilst the email presents as advice of a positive development, allowing the sharing of storage space amongst family members this is at best deceptive and could even be seen as fraudulent.  The reality is that our current entitlement of 6TB of storage is being reduced by 66%.  I am really saddened to see Microsoft play this type of disrespectful game with subscribers:  it shows an incredible lack of respect.  Shame on you!

I also object to the announced changes.  When I purchased my subscription, the Family plan provided up to 1 TB of OneDrive storage for each of up to six users, giving a total of 6 TB. Your deceptive email announces the replacement of these individual allocations with a shared 2 TB pool.  As I have already said, that is a 66% reduction.  This is a material reduction in the benefits of a paid subscription. The fact that the storage is being described as shared does not compensate for the reduction in the total storage available to the family.  Is such a change legal – please explain to me how.

I can see that the services offered in a subscriber service can change over time however those changes should apply prospectively not to existing paid services, including on annual renewals which are done so as to maintain continuity of subscription and service.  Microsoft should all existing subscribers to retain their existing entitlements, including storage entitlements for so long as they continue to pay the subscription on time.

Please regard this as a formal complaint and provide a substantive written response.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
