Azure for Students Academic Verification Error – Email Already Used This Year

Hello Microsoft Support Team,

I am a B.Tech student trying to activate Azure for Students using my official college email address.

This is my first attempt at academic verification, and I have never used this email address for Azure student verification before. However, I receive the following error:

"This email account has already been used for verification this year."

I checked the Azure portal and confirmed that there are no subscriptions visible in my Default Directory.

Could you please investigate why my academic verification is being blocked and help resolve the verification restriction so I can activate Azure for Students?

I can provide proof of enrollment if required.

Thank you for your assistance.

Submit the dedicated Azure for Students support form so Microsoft can review or reset the verification record associated with your college email: https://aka.ms/azureforstudentssupport. This form is intended for cases where an active Azure subscription is unavailable, and the matching Q&A resolution identifies support review as the remedy for this exact error.^1^

    Information to include

    Provide:

    • Your full name and official college email address.
    • The Microsoft account you want associated with Azure for Students.
    • The exact error: “This email account has already been used for verification this year.”
    • A statement that this was your first attempted academic verification.
    • A screenshot of the error, including the date and approximate time it occurred.
    • Confirmation that no subscription appears in your Default Directory.
    • Your student ID or current enrollment letter, if the form permits attachments. Otherwise, keep it ready for the support response.

Do not publish your email address, student ID, or enrollment documents in Microsoft Q&A; provide them only through the private support process.

    A suitable description is:

My official institution email is being reported as already used for academic verification this year, although this is my first attempt. No Azure subscription appears in my Default Directory. Please review the verification record, determine whether it was consumed by an incomplete or different-account registration, and reset it if appropriate. I can provide current proof of enrollment.

The error does not by itself prove that you knowingly activated a subscription. It indicates that the verification system currently treats the email as having been used during the applicable period. Azure for Students is limited to one subscription per eligible customer and can be renewed after one year, so support must determine whether the record is valid or erroneous.^2^

Check other directories without repeating registration

Although you checked the Default Directory, a subscription can be associated with another directory:

    1. In the Azure portal, select your account in the upper-right corner.
    2. Select Switch directory.
    3. Open each directory available to your account and check Subscriptions.

Microsoft documents a wrong-directory selection as one reason a portal can show no subscriptions.^3^

Also try signing in directly with the college email address if it can function as a Microsoft work or school account. This may reveal whether an earlier or incomplete verification was associated with a different sign-in identity.^1^

Finding no subscription in every directory does not remove the academic-verification restriction; it confirms that support needs to investigate the account-level verification record. Avoid repeatedly submitting the signup form with different Microsoft accounts, because Azure for Students is nontransferable and limited to one subscription per eligible customer.^4^
