A Microsoft offering that enables tracking of cloud usage and expenditures for Azure and other cloud providers.
Submit the dedicated Azure for Students support form at https://aka.ms/azureforstudentssupport, because only that support team can review or reset the verification record associated with your college email address.^1^
What to include in the request
Provide:
- Your full name.
- Your college email address.
- The exact error: “This email account has already been used for verification this year.”
- A statement that this was your first attempted Azure for Students verification.
- The Microsoft account you want associated with the subscription.
- A screenshot of the error, with unrelated personal or account information hidden.
- Proof of current enrollment, such as a student ID or enrollment letter, only through the private support request or when support asks for it.
Suggested description:
I am a current full-time student and this is my first attempt to activate Azure for Students. Academic verification reports that my institution email has already been used for verification this year. I do not have an Azure for Students subscription associated with this email to my knowledge. Please review the existing verification record and reset or correct it if it was created by an incomplete or erroneous attempt.
Do not post your email address, student ID, tenant ID, or other personal details publicly in Microsoft Q&A.
Check for an existing subscription
Before support responds, sign in to the Azure portal using the college email address itself:
- Open https://portal.azure.com.
- Select the account icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select Switch directory.
- Check each available directory.
- In each directory, open Subscriptions and look for an Azure for Students subscription.
A previous verification can be recorded under another Microsoft account or directory even when no subscription appears in the current portal view.^2^
If you find the subscription, use that account and directory rather than submitting another application. If none appears, continue with the support request; repeatedly retrying verification will not resolve an account-level verification record.
Eligibility versus the verification record
Azure for Students requires full-time attendance at an accredited, degree-granting institution and academic verification through the institution’s email address. The offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible customer.^3^
Meeting those requirements does not by itself clear this specific error. The message concerns the existing verification record for the email address, so support must determine whether it came from an earlier incomplete attempt, another linked account, or an incorrect record. Microsoft Q&A participants cannot inspect or modify that backend account data.
