Subject: Microsoft Teams Personal Account Deactivated – Unable to Sign In on Desktop or Web

I have an active Microsoft 365 Premium subscription ($19.99/month), with my next billing date of November 6, 2026.

I'm experiencing issues accessing Microsoft Teams using my personal Microsoft account ([[Moderator Note: Personal Info Removed]@gmail.com]).

Issues experienced:

  • The Teams app on my iPhone displays "Deactivated account" under my personal profile.

The Teams desktop application on my Mac repeatedly displays "Sorry, something went wrong, please try again."

The Teams web application either produces the same error or loads a completely blank screen.

I've attempted private browsing, alternate Teams URLs, restarting the application, and adjusting Safari privacy settings without success.

I can successfully access my Microsoft account and other Microsoft 365 services.

Interestingly, I can send Teams messages from my personal account on my iPhone to my work account, but my profile appears incorrectly as "Chat" with an unknown status on the receiving end.

I previously activated Teams but haven't used it regularly for some time.

I'm requesting that Microsoft Support:

Verify whether my personal Teams account has been deactivated, restricted, or improperly provisioned.

Investigate any account synchronization or authentication issues preventing desktop and web access.

Restore full Teams functionality across all devices without requiring an additional subscription.

Please escalate this to the appropriate Teams account support team if necessary.

Thank you!

    Hello Justin Michalak,

Thank you for providing the detailed information.

Since you can still access your Microsoft account and other Microsoft 365 services, the Microsoft account itself does not appear to be deactivated. The issue seems specific to your Teams personal profile.

As the same problem occurs in both the Teams desktop app and the web version, and you have already tested private browsing and other browser settings, this may be an account provisioning or synchronization issue rather than a problem with your Mac or browser.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Q&A is a user-to-user community, so contributors here cannot access your account or reactivate the Teams profile from the backend. Please contact Microsoft Support and ask them to review the status and provisioning of your Teams personal account:

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited solely to providing technical guidance on reported incidents, requests, or ideas.

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Technical Support" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

When contact, please provide screenshots of the “Deactivated account” message and the desktop/web errors.

I would not recommend creating another Microsoft account at this stage, since your existing account and subscription are active. Microsoft Support should first check whether the Teams profile can be restored or resynchronized.

I hope you can get the support you need, have a nice day.
