Since updating to the latest version of Outlook for Mac version 16.108.2 (26042616) some accounts will no longer sign into gmail to sync. I have tried a number of options to no avail. No matter which approach I've taken it fails with trying to open a second instance of outlook after signing into gmail. I’ve tried this in both legacy and new options in outlook.

Im able to still sync all accounts on my other devices iPads and iPhones just not some accounts on outlook. All sync stops coincide with the day I updated to the latest version of outlook.

If I try to do a new install, I’m concerned I will lose all my on my computer data.

thanks

    Hi @PaulMalojer-6262

I understand your concern, especially since the affected Gmail accounts stopped syncing after the Outlook update and you have important data stored under On My Computer.

Before reinstalling Outlook or deleting any profile, please back up the local data first. In Legacy Outlook for Mac, select Tools > Export, choose the items you want to keep, and save them as an Outlook for Mac archive file (.olm) in a safe location. If the On My Computer folders are not visible or appear empty in Legacy Outlook, do not proceed with the reinstall because that data may not be included in the export.

Once the backup has been verified, test with one affected Gmail account. Open Outlook > Settings > Accounts, remove that account using Sign Out On This Device, restart Outlook, and add it again. During the Google sign-in process, select Allow when Outlook requests permission.

If the sign-in process continues to open a second Outlook instance or cannot complete, please report the issue through Help > Contact Support in Outlook for Mac. Include the Outlook version 16.108.2 (26042616) and explain that the issue began immediately after the update.

Please avoid uninstalling Outlook until you have confirmed that the .olm backup contains your local data.
