I saw the message box pop open that Stated EXECUTING RULE, INBOX MESSAGS BEING DELETED

I am sorry, but I can't offer any real help on recovering the deleted messages beyond what you have already tried and what the AI Answer suggest. But if you want to keep looking for the root cause, could you please:

1 -- Provide a screen shot of your current Rules?

    • File -> Manage Rules and Alerts.
    • Select the Rule that seems to be the one that did the Deletes
    • Should look something like this.
    • Please redact part of any full email addresses show.
    • User's image

2 -- What was the type of account that was impacted? e.g. GMail, outlook.com, ...

3 -- If this is for a Microsoft Hosted Account (e.g. outlook.com) do you see any differences in Rules or Deleted Items using Outlook Web? https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/

If the Inbox was emptied by a rule, Sweep, Archive, or deletion, use this recovery path:

    1. In Outlook on the web or Outlook.com, first set the message filter to All.
      • If a filter is applied, messages may appear missing.
    2. Check the Other tab if Focused Inbox is enabled.
      • If messages are there, select them and use Move to > Move to Focused inbox.
    3. Check the Archive folder.
      • If messages were archived, select them and use Move to > Inbox.
    4. Check the Deleted Items folder.
      • If the messages are there, select them and choose Restore.
      • If they are not there, in Deleted Items select Recover items deleted from this folder, then select the messages and choose Restore.
      • Messages removed from Deleted Items are recoverable for 30 days.
    5. Check mailbox rules and Sweep rules.
      • Go to Rules settings and review any rule that moves or deletes mail.
      • Edit or delete any incorrect rule.
      • Sweep rules run once per day. Inbox rules run as soon as email arrives.
      • Rules must be viewed and edited on a computer.
    6. If using classic Outlook on Windows, also check whether messages were moved by automatic handling.
      • In Outlook on the web, Sweep can automatically delete incoming mail from a sender, keep only the latest message, or delete mail older than 10 days.
      • Move to can automatically move messages from a sender to another folder.
    7. If the issue affects a Microsoft 365 Group mailbox rather than a personal Inbox:
      • In OWA, open the group, go to Deleted Items, select the messages, and choose Restore.
      • If the items are no longer in Deleted Items, a tenant admin can use Restore-RecoverableItems -Identity <M365GroupEmailAddress> to restore mail from RecoverableItems to Inbox.
      • Warning: the PowerShell restore command requires tenant admin access.

Recovered messages are restored to their original folders when possible. If the original folder no longer exists, messages are restored to Inbox.
