Hello Microsoft Azure Support Team,

I am trying to activate my Azure for Students subscription using my personal Microsoft account and my university email for academic verification.

After completing the email verification, clicking “Start free” still displays the following error:

“Unable to complete Azure for Students verification. Please try again shortly or contact us.”

I also cannot access the Azure support portal. When I sign in, I receive this error:

“AADSTS16000: Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application.”

Could you please advise how my student verification and subscription activation can be reviewed, and how I can contact the appropriate support team despite being unable to access the support portal?

Thank you for your assistance.

For this Azure for Students activation issue, use the Azure for Students support path that does not require access to the Azure portal.

    1. Submit a request through the dedicated Azure for Students support form: https://aka.ms/azureforstudentssupport
    2. In the request, include:
      • Full name
      • The university email address used for student verification
      • The personal Microsoft account intended for the Azure for Students subscription
      • The exact error: “Unable to complete Azure for Students verification. Please try again shortly or contact us.”
      • The portal sign-in error: AADSTS16000: Selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application.
    3. Also try signing in to https://portal.azure.com directly with the school email address to check whether the student verification was already associated with a different Microsoft account.
    4. If retrying activation, verify that the Azure account profile information is correct and consistent, including contact email address, street address, and telephone number.
    5. If the issue persists in the browser, clear browser history/cache or retry in an incognito window.

If the university email was already used for verification in the last 12 months, the support team can review that status through the dedicated support form.
