My Mac Mini died & I am trying to transfer my Office Home 2024 license to my new Mac Mini

My Mac Mini M2 that had Office Home 2024 on it died & I have bought a replacement Mac Mini M6. I have loaded Office Home 2024 to my new Mac Mini M6, but need to transfer the license to it, but cannot find a way to do this.

The old Mini is totally dead, so I can't uninstall Office. I have a Time Machine backup, but it doesn't seem to bring the license data across & I gather the license is locked to the dead Mini, which is why I can't activate on the new machine.

I understand that the old Mac mini is completely unusable, so you cannot uninstall Office from it.

Since Office Home 2024 is a one-time purchase, please sign in to the Microsoft account that was used to purchase or redeem the license and check whether Office Home 2024 is listed under Products you’ve purchased:

Microsoft account Services & subscriptions

If it is listed, install Office from that page and sign in with the same Microsoft account when opening an Office app on the new Mac mini.

If activation is still blocked because the license remains associated with the old Mac, you will need to contact Microsoft Support. Explain that the previous Mac suffered a hardware failure and cannot be accessed or have Office uninstalled. The support team can review the activation status and assist with transferring the license.

Go to Contact Microsoft Support.
Select Show expanded list of products
Choose Office > Get Home support
Type live chat in the search box, then select Get Help > Contact Support
If you can’t sign in to the affected account, you may sign in with a different Microsoft account to access support options
Ask our Support Assistant > Type "Talk to live chat agent" > Contact Support
Under Products & Services, select Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Account Profile Question, then choose Chat with a support agent via web browser

Please let us know whether Office Home 2024 appears on the Services & subscriptions page and whether you receive a specific activation message on the new Mac.
