I have a subscription that has been disabled due to insufficient funds on the card. After loading the card with sufficient funds, the payment is going through. I tried to reactivate the subscription, but still getting the same error.

What is the way forward? Kindly help

After the outstanding balance is successfully paid, allow up to 24 hours for Azure to reactivate the subscription; if 24 hours have passed and it is still disabled, create an Azure billing support request rather than retrying Reactivate. ^1^

    Verify the payment status

    1. In the Azure portal, open Cost Management + Billing.
    2. Select Invoices and locate the overdue invoice.
    3. Confirm that it no longer offers Settle balance or Pay now and is not marked due or past due.
    4. Check Subscriptions → your subscription for its current status.

For pay-as-you-go subscriptions, Settle balance is available only to the account administrator. If several subscriptions share the failed card and are past due, Azure requires the entire outstanding balance associated with that payment method to be paid. ^2^

If the payment was completed less than 24 hours ago

Wait until the 24-hour reactivation window has elapsed. Azure documents that reactivation can take up to 24 hours after the outstanding balance is paid. There is no need to repeatedly select Reactivate during this period. ^1^

Once its status changes to Active/Enabled:

    • Check the affected resources.
    • Restart individual resources if they did not resume automatically.
    • If the subscription is active but resource creation or management remains unavailable for more than 30 minutes, contact Azure Billing Support. ^1^

If payment succeeded more than 24 hours ago

    Open an Azure support request:

    1. In the Azure portal, open Help + support.
    2. Select Create a support request.
    3. Choose an issue type related to Billing or Subscription management.
    4. Provide:
      • The subscription ID.
      • The invoice number and payment date.
      • Proof that the payment was processed, without exposing the full card number.
      • The exact reactivation error.
      • A screenshot showing the subscription status.

Microsoft specifically directs customers to Azure Support when payment was processed but the subscription remains disabled. ^2^

A disabled subscription cannot create or update resources, and some services are stopped or restricted until it returns to Active/Enabled. ^3^
