Currently i have Recovery Service Vault (RSV) on region1 to backup all VMs on region1, and now i have need to create VM under region2. Since Azure backup can't cross region then i need to create another RSV in region2. When I create the RSV then i will pay for azure backup only or there is a cost for RSV itself?

Azure Backup
Azure Backup

You do not pay for the RSV itself, as Azure does not charge a base fee for creating or maintaining the vault infrastructure.

You only pay for what you store and protect inside it, which includes:

    • Protected Instances fee: A flat monthly charge per VM based on its size.
    • Storage fee: The actual backup data stored, billed per GB per month based on your chosen redundancy (LRS, GRS, or ZRS).

Consequently, creating a second RSV in Region 2 will not introduce any "double vault" base fees - you will only pay standard Azure Backup rates for the new VMs you actively protect in that region.
