The undefined amounts indicate that the Settle Balance page has not loaded correctly, so retry the invoice payment in a clean InPrivate browser session while signed in as the Azure account administrator.
Retry through the invoice
- Sign out of all active Azure portal sessions.
- Open Microsoft Edge in an InPrivate window. Microsoft also recommends clearing cached cookies or using another browser when billing pages do not respond or load correctly.^1^
- Sign in using the account administrator’s email address. A subscription Owner or Contributor is not necessarily the account administrator and cannot settle a pay-as-you-go balance.
- Go to Cost Management + Billing → Invoices.
- Open each due or past-due invoice and select:
- Settle balance → Select payment method → Pay, or
- Pay now, if that is the option provided for your billing account or region.
- Select an existing card or add another card. If several subscriptions using the same failed card are past due, Azure requires the entire outstanding balance associated with that payment method to be paid together.^2^
If the invoice values still display as undefined, capture a screenshot plus the browser timestamp, but do not include full card details.
Check the billing-account path
In Cost Management + Billing, open Properties—or Billing scopes if multiple scopes appear—and check Type:
- Microsoft Online Subscription Program / pay-as-you-go: the account administrator uses Settle balance.
- Microsoft Customer Agreement: payment is handled from the invoice under the applicable billing-profile scope; the user must have the required billing permissions.
- Invoice/wire-transfer account: follow the payment instructions printed on the invoice rather than attempting a card payment.
The supported recovery path depends on this billing-account type.^3^
If the page remains broken
Since two cases are already open, do not create duplicate tickets. Reply to both acknowledgement emails and ask that the cases be:
- linked or consolidated;
- routed to Azure Billing and Subscription Support;
- escalated because the portal cannot render the balance or enable payment;
- reviewed for a manual payment or billing-account correction.
Include:
- subscription ID;
- billing-account type;
- affected invoice numbers;
- exact UTC date and time of the latest attempt;
- screenshot showing
undefined;
- browser and InPrivate test result;
- business impact and callback details.
Do not post those details publicly in Microsoft Q&A. Billing-account changes and payment processing require Azure Billing Support.
If a card transaction starts but is declined, verify with the bank that the card has sufficient funds or credit and permits international and recurring transactions; otherwise, retry using another eligible card.^1^
After successful payment
Azure states that subscription reactivation can take up to 24 hours after the balance is paid. Most resources resume automatically; inspect the affected resources afterward and restart them only if necessary. If resource management remains unavailable more than 30 minutes after the subscription itself becomes active, update the billing-support case.^3^
