Try these Windows steps in order:
- Check the current display mode
- Go to Start > Settings > System > Display > Advanced display.
- Review the Display information panel. This shows the current resolution and refresh rate for the selected display.
- In Choose a refresh rate, select 60 Hz if it appears.
- Watch for resolution-linked refresh rates
- In the refresh rate list, entries marked with an asterisk can change the display resolution when selected.
- If the display is reporting an incorrect mode, this can explain abnormal values in Advanced display.
- Roll back the display driver if the problem started after an update
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the display adapter > Properties > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver.
- If the option is available, use it and then recheck Advanced display.
- Reinstall the display driver if rollback is unavailable or does not help
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the display adapter > Uninstall device > select Attempt to remove the driver for this device > Uninstall.
- Restart if prompted.
- Open Device Manager again.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the adapter > Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Identify the graphics adapter
- In Device Manager > Display adapters, note the manufacturer and adapter name.
- This helps confirm which display driver is controlling the monitor.
- If the issue continues, submit a bug report
- Use Windows Feedback Hub and include the exact behavior: a 60 Hz monitor showing 60,000 Hz as the only refresh-rate option in Advanced display.
Important:
- Use only refresh rates supported by both the graphics adapter and the monitor.
- Selecting unsupported display settings can cause display problems.
