If Phone Link is not sending or syncing properly between the phone and the Windows PC, check these first:
- Make sure the phone and PC are both:
- Turned on
- Nearby
- Connected to the same Wi-Fi network
- Signed in with the same Microsoft account in Link to Windows on the phone and Phone Link on the PC
- On the Android phone, check:
- Battery Saver is Off
- Airplane mode is Off
- Wi-Fi is connected, not only mobile data
- On the PC, check:
- Internet is working
- Battery Saver is Off
- Settings > System > Shared experiences shows the account is working correctly. If there is a problem, select Fix now.
- Turn off battery optimization for Link to Windows on the phone, because it can interrupt sending and syncing:
- Go to Android Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Link to Windows > Advanced > Battery > Manage Battery Usage > Battery optimization
- Find Link to Windows and select Don’t optimize
- Go to Android Settings > Apps > Link to Windows > Battery > Optimize battery usage
- Select All, find Link to Windows, and turn it Off
- If setup or linking failed several times, close and reopen Phone Link on the PC and start setup again. After more than 3 failed code-matching attempts, linking is blocked temporarily and restarting setup switches to the permissions flow instead.
- If the problem happens on work Wi-Fi or public Wi-Fi, the network may be blocking communication between the phone and PC. Firewall or VPN can also cause this.
If the issue is specifically with messages not syncing correctly on some devices, disabling 5G messaging / Advanced Messaging on supported OPPO or HONOR devices can restore message sync.
