Hi. Need help to find the app or site that allows me to easily direct my printer what to do. For example, I need to scan a document onto my laptop.

    Hi Mandy,

    1

Usually the printer/scanner manufacturer would provide an app to scan documents to your PC, please provide the make and exact model number of your printer.

    2

You indicate you want to scan from the printer feeder, is that the tray that feeds in paper for printing, or is there a separate document feeder on the top of the scanner section of the printer?

To scan from a printer/scanner to a Windows laptop, first make sure the device is added in Windows:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
    2. Select Add a printer or scanner.
    3. Wait for Windows to find the device, then select it and choose Add device.

If the printer/scanner is already installed, scanning usually depends on the manufacturer’s driver and software. Many scan-capable printers include their own scanning software.

For feeder scanning specifically, try Windows scanning options after the device is installed:

    1. Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
    2. Select the printer/scanner.
    3. Open Scan settings.
    4. Select More scan and printer settings.
    5. Select the printer, right-click it, and choose Start scan.
    6. If the device has a top feeder, try scanning from the feeder source.

If Windows does not find the device or scanning does not work:

    • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to the same network as the laptop if it is wireless.
    • If it is a USB printer, connect the USB cable directly to the laptop and turn on the printer.
    • Install the latest driver from the printer manufacturer, because most printers require the latest driver to work well.

If a specific manufacturer app is needed, that depends on the printer model.
