I have a Rogers/Yahoo email account that was working on my iMac until a power outage on the weekend ... now it won't let me sign back in and keeps telling me to disable ad blockers and VPN - which I have.

Any suggestions?

    Hello David Morrison,

Thanks for trying those steps and letting us know the same warning remains, even with your VPN and ad blockers disabled.

Could you try signing into Rogers Yahoo Mail using a different browser on your iMac? Rogers recommends this test in its sign-in troubleshooting guidance.

    Please let us know:

    • Does webmail sign-in work, or show the same warning?
    • When adding the account to Outlook, does the warning appear in your browser or inside Outlook?

This should help narrow down whether the problem also affects webmail or only Outlook’s account authorization.

For Outlook on iMac, add the Yahoo account again through Outlook’s account flow:

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Select Tools > Accounts > + Add Account.
    3. Enter the Rogers/Yahoo email address and select Continue.
    4. If prompted in the browser, complete the Yahoo sign-in and select Allow so Outlook can access mail, contacts, and calendars.
    5. If asked, select Allow again to let the page open Microsoft Outlook.
    6. Select Done.

If the normal sign-in keeps failing, Outlook for Mac also supports adding Yahoo accounts either:

    • using Microsoft Cloud, or
    • by turning off Sync with Microsoft Cloud and choosing Sync directly with [Google, iCloud, Yahoo, etc.] during setup.

That gives an alternate sign-in path if the current Yahoo sign-in flow is stuck.

A practical next step is to remove the existing Yahoo account entry in Outlook first, then add it back using the steps above so Outlook starts a fresh authorization flow.
