I don't understand why the default login account appears when I launch the application. It was the work email in my previous working company and I could not find any option to remove this email account from the app, even remove the current data from my android phone.

    Hi @Timothy Chan

Are you referring to the account appears in the screenshot below? If yes, it appears to be cached locally by Teams/Windows authentication components.

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar notification area and select Quit.
    2. Delete the contents of the following folders:
      • %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe
      • %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
      • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth
      • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TokenBroker
      • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\IdentityCache
    3. Restart Windows and launch Teams again.

These folders store cached authentication tokens and account information. Removing their contents forces Teams and the Windows sign-in components to rebuild the authentication cache, which may remove accounts that continue to appear on the Teams account picker.

Or are you referring to the account appears on Teams for Android?

This usually happens because the old work or school account is still registered on the device or cached by Microsoft apps, so Teams keeps offering it as the default sign-in account.

    Try these steps on Windows:

    1. Go to Start > Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. If the old company account is listed, select it and disconnect or manage it.
    3. Restart the device.

If it still appears, clear the stored credentials and app sign-in cache:

    1. Open Control Panel > Credential Manager > Windows Credentials.
    2. Remove entries related to the old organization account.
    3. Sign out of Teams.

    For Teams itself:

    1. In Teams, select the profile picture at the top of the app and choose Sign out.
    2. Sign back in with the correct account.

    Important:

    • Removing a work or school account from Windows can affect access to other apps and services that use that account.
    • If the account is managed by the old organization, complete removal may require the organization’s IT admin.

If the issue is actually the "Which account do you want to use?" prompt, that means the same email address exists as both a personal Microsoft account and a work or school account. In that case:

    • Personal and work/school accounts cannot be merged.
    • To reduce the prompt, change the personal Microsoft account alias in Manage how you sign in to Microsoft, make the new alias primary, and optionally remove the old email from the personal account.
