To access MSDN Azure free credit, activate the Azure Dev/Test credit that is included with eligible Visual Studio subscriptions.
- Confirm the Visual Studio subscription includes Azure Dev/Test credit. If the subscription is not eligible, the Azure credit option does not appear.
- Sign in to the Visual Studio Subscriptions portal at my.visualstudio.com/benefits.
- On the Benefits page, find the Azure tile in the Tools section and select Activate.
- If no Azure subscription exists yet, complete the required setup:
- Enter personal information
- Verify identity with a phone verification code
- Accept the terms and select Sign up
- After activation, access the subscription in the Azure portal and go to Subscriptions under Azure Services.
If the credit is not visible, the documented causes include:
- The Visual Studio subscription might not be eligible
- Sign-in might be using a different email than the Visual Studio subscription
- The account might be associated with a different Microsoft Entra tenant than expected
The sign-in email determines which Microsoft Entra tenant the subscription is associated with:
- Using a personal email creates a new tenant and that profile becomes a global administrator
- Using a corporate or school account associates the subscription with the organization’s tenant
If the Visual Studio subscription expired or was removed, the Azure Dev/Test monthly credit is no longer available.
