Dear Olivia Bennett,
To ensure I understand your request correctly and to support you as effectively as possible, I need more specific information from you:
- What presence status is displayed in Teams?
- What status should be displayed?
- When did the problem begin?
- Is the issue constant or intermittent?
- Is only one user affected, or are multiple users affected?
In the meantime, kindly try these steps:
1> Check for a manually configured presence duration
On the affected user’s Teams client:
Select the user’s profile picture > select the current presence status > Duration
Check whether a status and reset time were manually configured.
If a manual duration exists, select the appropriate status and set Reset status after to the preferred value.
If available, select Reset status to return presence control to Teams.
Wait briefly, refresh Teams, and retest.
2> Confirm that Teams and Outlook use the same account
In Teams
- Select the user’s profile picture.
- Note the full email address or User Principal Name.
In Outlook
- Select File > Account Settings.
- Note the mailbox email address and signed-in Office account.
Compare the addresses carefully, including the domain and any aliases.
3> Review calendar and Automatic Replies
Open Calendar > open the meeting or appointment associated with the incorrect presence.
Check the event’s start time, end time, and time zone.
Check Show As:
- Busy or Out of Office should affect calendar-based presence.
- Free normally should not make the user appear busy.
Confirm that the event appears in the user’s primary calendar, not only in a shared or secondary calendar.
Check for duplicate, overlapping, or canceled events.
4> Sign out of Teams everywhere and test one device
Sign out of Teams on: Desktop computers, Teams on the web, Mobile devices, Secondary computers or virtual desktops.
Fully close Teams on all devices.
Sign back in on one device only.
Confirm the correct account is used.
Open the Calendar tab.
Reproduce the original presence scenario.
If the issue is resolved, sign in to the other devices one at a time.
I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction.
