There is no internal microphone showing. I had one a month and two months ago for a zoom meeting, but today it shows no input device found.

    Hi,

Are you using Windows 10 or Windows 11?

Press the Windows key + R, type mmsys.cpl, and click OK.

    Go to the Recording tab.

Right-click the microphone and select Enable.

Right-click it again and choose Set as Default Device.

Right-click the microphone once more and select Properties.

In the Levels tab, adjust the volume slider to the maximum value, then click OK.

Next, go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the box that says “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.”

Go to Settings > System or Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates, then apply all pending updates.

If the issue persists, go directly to your PC manufacturer’s support website and download and install the audio driver for your device, then restart your computer.

Follow these steps in order on the Windows PC where “no input devices found” is shown:

    1. Check that apps can use the microphone (Windows 10/11)
      1. Select Start > Settings > Privacy (or Privacy & security) > Microphone.
      2. Select Change, then turn On Allow apps to access your microphone.
      3. Under Allow desktop apps to access your microphone, make sure the switch is On.
      4. If the camera has a built‑in mic, also go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and ensure camera access and Allow apps to access your camera are On.
    2. Make sure the microphone is the default input device
      • Windows 11:
        1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Under Input, go to Choose a device for speaking or recording and select the device to use.
        3. Select > next to the device, choose Start test under Microphone test, speak, then Stop test and Play the recorded sample.
      • Windows 10:
        1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Under Input, ensure the correct microphone is selected in Choose your input device.
        3. Speak and check Test your microphone to confirm Windows is hearing input.
    3. Reinstall audio drivers if Windows shows no microphone at all
      1. Right‑click Start and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. For each audio device listed, right‑click and select Uninstall device.
      4. Check Delete the driver software for this device (or Attempt to remove the driver for this device) if available, then select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC so Windows reinstalls audio devices and drivers automatically.
      6. If nothing appears, open Device Manager again, right‑click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes.
      7. After devices reappear, right‑click the audio driver and select Update driver.
    4. Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter
      • Windows 11:
        1. Go to Settings > System > Sound.
        2. Scroll to Advanced and choose Input devices under Troubleshoot common sound problems.
        3. Use All sound devices under Advanced for more options.
      • Windows 10:
        1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
        2. Run the Recording Audio troubleshooter.

If, after these steps, no input devices appear at all (even in Device Manager), the internal microphone hardware may be disabled or not detected and may require OEM support or service.
