Contact information input or imported shows only the name and phone number. All other information such as address, company information does not appear under any of the tabs when I try to review any and all of the contacts. What am I doing wrong ?

If only the name and phone number are showing, it could be an issue with how the contacts were imported or synced. Try opening the contact in Outlook on the web and see if the missing details appear there. If they do, the issue may be with the Outlook app. If not, you may need to check the original contact file and make sure the address and company fields were included during import.

If these contacts came from a CSV file, reimport them through classic Outlook and explicitly map every source column—such as address and company—to the corresponding Outlook contact field.

Reimport and map the missing fields

New Outlook’s CSV importer does not provide the same manual field-mapping workflow available in classic Outlook. Incorrect or unrecognized column headings can therefore leave only fields such as name and phone populated.

    1. Keep a backup of the original CSV file.
    2. Open Outlook (classic) from the Windows Start menu.
    3. Select File → Open & Export → Import/Export.
    4. Select Import from another program or file → Next.
    5. Select Comma Separated Values → Next.
    6. Choose the CSV file.
    7. Select the appropriate duplicate option. If these incomplete contacts already exist, Replace duplicates with items imported can update them, but first keep a backup.
    8. Select the Contacts folder under the correct email account.
    9. On the final wizard page, do not select Finish yet. Select Map Custom Fields.
    10. Drag each CSV column from the left to its matching Outlook field on the right, for example:
      • Company → Company
      • Address → Home Street or Business Street
      • City → Home City or Business City
      • State → Home State or Business State
      • ZIP → Home Postal Code or Business Postal Code
      • Comments → Notes
    11. Select OK → Finish, then open People and inspect an imported contact.

Microsoft’s documented classic Outlook process specifically requires mapping spreadsheet columns to Outlook fields; columns with nonmatching names often need manual mapping.^1^

If the contacts must then appear in new Outlook, export the correctly mapped Contacts folder from classic Outlook and import that CSV in new Outlook → People → Import contacts → Browse → Import. Use UTF-8 encoding for the CSV.^2^

If the details were entered manually

Open the saved contact itself rather than relying on the compact profile card:

    1. In new Outlook, select People.
    2. Select the contact.
    3. Select Edit contact.
    4. Add or review the company, address, notes, and other available fields.
    5. Select Save.

New Outlook supports adding and updating additional information through Edit contact.^3^

If the information is absent in Edit contact, it was not saved into the corresponding Outlook fields. For CSV-created contacts, correct the mapping and reimport rather than manually repairing every contact.

If the CSV already contains correctly named fields

Open a copy of the CSV in Excel and inspect one affected row:

    • Confirm that address and company values are present in that same row.
    • Confirm that commas—not semicolons—separate the fields.
    • Close the CSV without saving unless changes are intentional.
    • If importing directly into new Outlook, save it with UTF-8 encoding.

If the correctly mapped contacts appear in classic Outlook but remain incomplete in new Outlook, check the same contact in Outlook on the web. If the web copy is also incomplete, the incomplete data was imported into the mailbox; if the web copy is complete, the issue is specific to the new Outlook client and should be taken to Microsoft Support.
