A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
- Select any cell in the PivotTable.
- On the PivotTable Analyze tab, select Refresh in the Data group, or press Alt+F5.
- If multiple PivotTables need updating, select the Refresh arrow and choose Refresh All.
- If Excel changes the PivotTable layout or formatting after refresh, go to PivotTable Analyze > Options > Layout & Format and check:
- Autofit column widths on update
- Preserve cell formatting on update
- To refresh automatically when opening the workbook, go to PivotTable Analyze > Options > Data and check Refresh data when opening the file.
If refresh is blocked because the PivotTable is read-only, that version of Excel may not support some PivotTable features in the workbook. In that case:
- Open the workbook in Excel for the web and refresh there, or
- Re-create the PivotTable if needed.
If the PivotTable still does not show the newest rows after refresh, the source may need adjustment:
- If the source is an Excel table, rows added to the table are included when the PivotTable is refreshed.
- If the source is not a table, change the PivotTable source data to include the new rows.
If a #SPILL! error appears during refresh, clear any data, merged cells, or other content blocking the PivotTable from expanding.
