    Hi Lisa Farr,

Since the usual repair and reinstall steps have already been covered, I would suggest checking whether this is specific to the New Outlook desktop interface.

Please open Outlook on the web, go to Calendar, and try moving the same type of event using a single click-and-drag.

    • If it works normally on the web, this points more toward the New Outlook desktop app or its interaction with Windows.
    • If the same behavior occurs on the web, please let us know whether it affects all calendar entries or only specific ones, such as recurring meetings.

That comparison should help narrow down the next step without repeating troubleshooting you’ve already tried.

Open the calendar entry and change its date or time directly instead of repeatedly dragging it, then repair New Outlook if mouse selection remains unreliable.

    Move the entry without dragging

    1. Double-click the event on the calendar grid.
    2. Change its start date/time and, if needed, its end date/time.
    3. Select Save for an appointment or Send for a meeting.

For a recurring entry, choose whether to edit only that occurrence, the entire series, or that occurrence and all following events. New Outlook only allows you to edit events you created; a meeting request organized by someone else cannot be moved this way.^1^

If “move” means transferring the event to another calendar:

    1. Right-click the event and select Open.
    2. Select the current calendar name in the event window.
    3. Choose the destination calendar.
    4. Select Save.^2^

    Fix the repeated-click behavior

    1. Fully close New Outlook:
      • Right-click Start → Task Manager.
      • Select Microsoft Outlook → End task.
      • Reopen Outlook and test one event with a single click-and-drag.^3^
    2. If the problem continues, use the lower-risk Windows repair option:
      • Start → Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
      • Find Outlook (new) and select … → Advanced options.
      • Select Repair.
      • Reopen Outlook and test again.
Repair is intended to fix the app without resetting its data. Use Reset only if Repair fails, because Reset can remove local app data and restore default settings.^4^
    3. If Repair is unavailable or ineffective, uninstall new Outlook for Windows from Start, then reinstall it from Microsoft Store. You may need to add your accounts again if they are not restored automatically.^3^

The classic Outlook drag-and-drop issue associated with specific Windows 11 24H2 updates does not apply to New Outlook, so changing classic Outlook’s Optimize for compatibility option or removing those updates is not the appropriate fix here.
