Microsoft autocorrect can't be turned off

I am using outlook webversion in Chrome incognito mode. Autocorrect and text predictions are both turned off under microsoft editor settings.

When I type COs and then spacebar. It auto corrects to Cos. If I hit Ctrl+Z right after it reverses to COs. Anyway to fix this so it stops doing this auto correct but still have auto correct working without installing any more 3rd party extensions.

I have the word "COs" added to the personal dictionary under editor as well which did not change anything.

Using Outlook Web ( https://outlook.cloud.microsoft/ ) in a Chrome Incognito session, I can not reproduce.

1 -- Could you please post a screen shot of your Microsoft Editor settings and confirm which Editor language is selected?

2 -- Same behavior in Word Web? https://word.cloud.microsoft/

3 -- Are you using a Personal Outlook Account. e.g. outlook.com, hotmail.com ?
Just curious, I was not able to reproduce using my Personal or MS 365 Business Standard accounts.

Word web does not do this. Word desktop app was doing the same thing till I found the double cap and turned it off. It is MS365 business.

Certainly is looking like Classic Office's Correct TWo INitial CApitals and Outlook's auto correct are both at play here.

4 -- Just to confirm, do all of these get "fixed"?

The problem is that I can't find any separate Correct TWo .. setting in the Microsoft Editor for this and don't see how this could be "inherited" from some other Office app. It's like your Microsoft Editor is keeping the Correct TWo .. setting, even when all the other checks are off.

5 -- Just for grins. In Outlook Web Editor Settings:

[Reset to default], [OK], Close.
Open it again and turn OFF everything.

Hi Joey,

Regarding your concern, the personal dictionary controls spelling recognition, but the change from COs to Cos is an AutoCorrect replacement. Therefore, adding the word to the dictionary doesn't trigger a spelling warning, but it will not stop the capitalization change.

Because you are using Google Chrome, please test whether the browser’s spell-checking service is involved:

Open another text field outside Outlook, such as a blank web form
Type COs followed by a space
If it changes there as well, open Chrome Settings > Languages > Spell check > temporarily turn off Check for spelling errors when you type text on web pages, and test again

Only does this in Outlook. Chrome and windows autocorrect are both turned off.

Thank you for your updates. That helps rule out Chrome settings and confirms that Outlook itself is making the change.

Unfortunately, as noted in Add or remove AutoCorrect entries in Outlook | Microsoft Support, Outlook on the web does not currently provide an option to add, edit, or remove an individual AutoCorrect entry. It only allows enabling or disabling AutoCorrect.

If you have access to the desktop version of Outlook, you can check for and remove the individual replacement to see if it helps:

Open a new email in desktop Outlook

Go to Editor > Editor Settings > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options

In the Replace field, enter COs. If an entry replacing it with Cos appears, select it and choose Delete

I have auto correct turned off completely under editor. Why is it still auto correcting?

Btw, there is option for desttop version to turn off correcting double cap. That is not a problem.

If that's the case, Outlook on the web unfortunately does not have an exception for this specific word. For now, Ctrl+Z is the only practical way to reverse that single correction without disabling AutoCorrect completely.
